Spring Cleaning Your Estate Plans

Tulips are popping. Birds are chirping. Chocolate Easter eggs are appearing on store shelves. This can only mean one thing, Spring is in the air. Which also means that the yearly task of Spring cleaning is once again rearing it's refreshing head. But this year, before hitting the garage and closets, why not think about your estate plans first?

Over the course of the last year, or maybe even over the last few years, your estate assets have done one of two things; grown or retracted. And if they've grown to much larger proportions, just like all those household chores, things can get a bit messy. And if your estate plans are messy and outdated, they may fail you and your family if something were to happen to you before you have a chance to tidy things up. So, do it now!

A few things you need to check include, making sure that all new assets are accounted for and included in your will or funded into your trust and recording any sales of previously recorded assets. Also make sure that relationships are in good standing with people you've named as guardians or anyone you've appointed to execute your estate or make decisions for your health care. You wouldn't want anyone you've lost trust in during your life, making decisions for you and your family after you've died.

So, start this season out the right way and get your estate affairs in order. Then you can relax and enjoy the beautiful summer days to come with an uncluttered mind and estate plans.

Make an appointment with a qualified Los Angeles estate litigation Attorney to make sure all your estate plans and documents are in neat, tidy, and readily executable order.
