Body of Sherman Helmsley Still Not Laid To Rest

The Jeffersons television series star Sherman Hemsley's spirit may have moved on up to that deluxe apartment in the sky, but not so for his physical body.

Despite the fact that he died over a month ago from lung cancer, his body has still been in refrigerated storage at an El Paso funeral home due to a dispute over the validity of his will. In his will he left his entire estate, valued at over $50,000 to Flora Enchinton. He described this woman as his beloved partner and she stated that she has been his friend and manager for over 20 years.

The will is being contested by a man named Richard Thornton who is claiming to be the brother of Mr. Hemsley. The reason Thornton is contesting the will is because he believes that the will was not actually written by the Hemsley. Ms. Enchinton states that Sherman has never mentioned to her that he had any surviving relatives.

His body will remain at the El Paso funeral home until the dispute can be resolved.
