Trust Funding Before Summer Funning

Summer time is upon us once again and that means barbecues, swimming pools, and vacations to exotic locales and beaches. But before you get out the grills or book those tickets to Tahiti, take some time to make sure your living trust is properly funded.

Some things you may want to begin with are reviewing all of your property titles and bank or investment accounts to make sure they are properly titled in your trust name. If they are not, make an appointment to get those transfers done before you leave town. Vacations require travel and accidents do happen. You might have even thought of taking out a life insurance policy just in case something goes awry during your trip, but have you made your living trust the beneficiary? Make sure to confirm all beneficiaries of all policies including retirement plans before you get on that plane.

If you haven't yet set up a living trust or estate plans of any kind, please consult with a professional estate litigation Attorney right away. It's worth using up one or two of your vacation days to prepare for the future of your loved ones so that you can enjoy the days that you have with them now.
